Today is Day 3 of my 7-day keto reset…
And what a day it is.
I’m working a double shift — 1st into 2nd.
I’ve done this many, many times in my career.
And usually?
These are the days everything falls apart.
But Today Felt Different
Today is a good day.
I actually got a solid amount of sleep, so I woke up feeling rested and energized.
Even right now, as I’m writing this at 9PM…
I’m not even tired yet.
That alone is a win.
Sticking to the Plan
I stayed locked into my fasting schedule today.
My eating window is already in the rearview.
No late-night snacking.
No “just one more thing.”
Done.
For breakfast and lunch, I stuck with my usual routine (I broke that down in another post).
After my first shift ended, I had:
Tuna packet Almonds and walnuts
Simple. Controlled. No guessing.
Caffeine — Where I Used to Mess This Up
I had my usual after-dinner energy drink…
But that’s where it stops.
No more caffeine after that.
Why?
Because I need to go home and actually sleep.
I’ve got about 5.5 hours before I have to get back up and do it again…
So that sleep has to count.
That’s something I’ve learned the hard way.
Dinner — And a Big Win
Beth came through tonight and brought me dinner from Texas Roadhouse.
I kept it simple and on plan:
House salad (ranch, no croutons) Green beans 8 oz salmon
And yeah…
I skipped the rolls.
My coworkers were pretty happy about that. 😂
Numbers Don’t Lie
Even with a long day like this:
Stayed within my macros About 250 calories under budget
That’s a win on a 16-hour shift.
No question.
Looking Ahead to Day 4
Tomorrow is Day 4…
And honestly, that one might be tougher.
Less sleep
More fatigue
More chances to slip
That’s where I usually struggle:
Skipping workouts Getting sloppy with food Losing focus
But not this time.
I Already Know the Plan
Tomorrow will be tough.
But I’m going to stay on it.
No excuses.
No drifting.
Just keep stacking days.
Day 3 Takeaway
If I can stay on track during a double shift like this…
That tells me everything I need to know.
This reset is working.
If you’re grinding through long days like this too…
You don’t need perfect conditions.
You just need to stay consistent.
