It’s been a little while since I wrote.

Not because anything was wrong. Life has just been busy.

The funny thing is, when I look back over the last few weeks, I realized we’ve actually been doing exactly what this blog is supposed to be about.

We bought a Jeep.

We named her Waypoint.

That name means a lot to me. A waypoint isn’t the finish line. It’s just a point on the journey that helps keep you headed in the right direction.

That’s us.

We’re not trying to race through life anymore. We’re trying to enjoy it.

We’ve already been talking about taking a trip up the east coast of Michigan. We want to find little towns, kayaking spots, trails, good restaurants, and places we’ve never been. One of the best things about living in Indianapolis is there are so many places you can get to in just a few hours. We want to start taking advantage of that.

The Jeep is more than just a vehicle. It’s another reason to get out of the house instead of sitting around all weekend.

Speaking of the house…

I’ve been spending a lot of time getting my basement cleaned up and organized. The garage is finally cleaned out too, and I’ve got plans to give it a makeover.

I’ve learned something about myself.

When my house is cluttered, my mind feels cluttered too.

When everything is clean and put away, I think better. I stay focused better. I just feel better.

Beth and I have also been out in the yard almost every chance we’ve had. We’ve been busting our butts, and honestly, I think the yard looks better than it ever has.

There’s still plenty to do, but that’s part of the fun.

One thing I don’t say enough is how thankful I am for Beth.

She’s always in my corner.

Whether it’s eating healthier, cleaning up another project around the house, planning a road trip, or just dreaming about what’s next, she’s right there beside me. I couldn’t ask for a better partner to do life with.

And before anyone asks…

Yes, we’re still eating healthy and working out.

We got a little off our routine for a bit. It happens.

But this isn’t another “starting over” post.

We’re just picking back up.

There’s a big difference.

We’re still chasing the same goals. We’re still trying to lose weight, get stronger, eat better, and build healthier habits.

The difference is that those things aren’t the whole story anymore.

This blog is about building a healthier, more adventurous life.

Sometimes that means getting a workout in.

Sometimes it means loading up the kayaks.

Sometimes it means cleaning out the garage.

Sometimes it means sitting on the patio after mowing the yard and talking about where we want to go next.

It’s all part of the same journey.

I’m excited about where things are headed.

More adventures.

More kayaking.

More projects around the house.

More healthy meals.

More exploring.

More memories.

I’m looking forward to sharing all of it with you.

I have a feeling Waypoint is going to take us to some pretty amazing places.
